Fair Wages and Union Rights: Worth and Dignity for Low Wage Workers

This Labor Day, fast food and health care workers across the country are rallying for fair wages and union rights. Income inequality has skyrocketed in recent years, with a declining minimum wage, attacks on unions, and tax policies favoring the wealthy. Most of the 400,000 minimum wage earners in IL are adults working full time and making less than $17,000 a year. While Gov Rauner has vetoed a minimum wage increase in IL, this campaign targets large private employers, particularly in the fast food industry which is the largest employer of low-wage workers.
