No Kings Vote Early Actions - Saturday, 10/17!
Saturday, October 17th is No Kings Early Voting Day of Action
The No Kings movement (nokings.org) has been having national days of action throughout most of the current federal administration. You may remember some of our own UUANI members showing up for No Kings ended up appearing in a clip on The Daily Show. (UUANI Board Treasurer and some other UUs appear about 7 minutes 10 seconds in).
The next Day of Action is THIS SATURDAY! There are many ways to participate.
This No Kings Day of Action is employing a new strategy. Rather than focus on large marches and roadside demonstrations, this time the people are called on to take action by voting early, en masse, that day. Most Illinois counties have at least one early voting site where you can vote already.
To find your early voting sites:
Go to elections.il.gov
Click on the Information For Voters button in the top left corner
Click on the link that says Early Voting/Grace Period Registration/Election Day Vote Center Locations in the center column of the screen.
Get a few friends together and join forces with people across the country who will be voting early on Saturday!
There are still other events you can go to on Saturday. If you are signed up for UUANI Action of the Week emails, you’ll find a list in your inbox right now! Many more are listed on nokings.org There might be even more that the Catalyst or Social Justice Ministry at your church can tell you about - reach out to folks in your community to see if they are - or want to be - involved. Voting is one of many ways we, the people, use our power, so go out and be powerful!
SEE YOU AT THE POLLS AND IN THE STREETS!
